How to wear a contact lens for the first time

First Step: Wash and dry your hands thoroughly using soap and a clean towel.

Step Two: Rinse the lenses with a solution to remove dirt, and you can skip this step with new contact lenses that have not been worn before.

Step Three: Place the lens on the tip of the index finger, and make sure that the lens is not inward by checking its marker.

Step Four: Use your free hand, hold the upper eyelid in place so as not to overdo it.

Step Five: Use the free fingers of your hand, pull the lower eyelid down.

Step Six: Place the lens on the bottom of your eye.

Step Seven: Slowly remove your hand from your eyelid allowing your eyes to close for a moment.

Step Eight: Close your eye and open it several times naturally, so that the lens is clearly focused on the menome.

Step Nine: If the lens makes you feel uncomfortable or irritates your eyes, take it out and check for damage to it, and if the lens is damaged, throw it away, otherwise use brine to rinse and recompose.

It's a very exciting time when wearing contact lenses, but as with anything new it can be a bit scary too, and after all, contact lenses are high-tech medical devices and vision is one of your most valuable senses, and as such it's important to make good choices so that you stay comfortable, happy and safe.
